My mom recently brought over a stack of old photos from when I was a wee lad to show to Karen and me. After we all had a good laugh at some of them like the one above, I decided to start getting them all up on flickr.
There’s something oddly compelling about using flickr to archive and share old photos. The prevalence of sites like flickr and the near ubiquity of cameraphones with instant sharing often make photos feel as though they were taken in order to be shared. Scanned old photos somehow feel so much more private and personal. I think a big reason may be because they’re clearly from a different time when photos could only be experienced in person.
(Next time maybe I’ll load some up from the awkward teen years.)
