I'm 30!

I turned 30 last weekend! Friday to be exact.

Despite turning what seems to be very old, I had an excellent weekend. We kicked off the festivities on Thursday evening with a last minute plan to go to the Yankee/Red Sox game at Yankee Stadium. Thanks, Mo! Dennis and Matt were up for the last minute plan and met up with us at Union Square. A squashed 20 minute subway ride uptown and we had arrived at the stadium just in time to catch the national anthem and $80 worth of beers.

Even though Yankee Stadium seemed to be out of everything by the fourth inning: cups! sausages! dogs! and the Yankees lost, it was a great night thanks to the weather, good company and ice cream from the future.

After the game we headed downtown and rang in the 18th at Scratcher. Dennis got a tattoo and I got some birthday notes.

Friday (my birthday!) couldn’t have been better. We had beautiful weather and my mom came in to see me and the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens.

It’s a great time of year to check out the gardens because the cherry blossoms are out in full force for the next several weeks. Go check it out if you haven’t already.

Up next, a nap! Because that’s what you do when your 30. Recognize.

My Mom headed home and I headed out to to meet Alex for happy hour drinks at Vol de Nuit and dinner at the insanely delicious Blue Hill. They have a beautiful farm upstate and recently opened up a restaurant in NYC under the same name. I definitely recommend you check it out if you haven’t already. However, don’t wear flip flops–even if they are your fancy flip flops… In a food coma after consuming too much sweet potato ravioli and apple crumble, Alex and I headed home and caught some sleep before Saturday’s big events.

Saturday was another amazing day in regards to the weather. We started off the morning at Prospect park with Sasha, headed back out later for a run, stopped by the farmers market and then spent the remainder of the afternoon cleaning up our garden for the summer bbq season. By the time the garden was cleared of our winter rubbish, it was time for some kimchi. We met up with my whole crew at Moim in Park Slope for some excellent Korean food. Dinner was followed with many delicious drinks at Flatbush Barn—particulalry the Mo’ Stormy (ginger juice, gingerale, dark rum, mint, lime). It was an excellent time and even better the next day when I managed to escape a birthday hangover! Yay! 30!

p.s. Thanks to Dennis for some of the photos. Sadly, I have no photos from Saturday because I was too busy with the Mo’ Stormys and friends.
